Turkish giants Besiktas have confirmed reports suggesting that winger Simao is nearing a move to Espanyol.
The Black Eagles are ready to cash in on the Portuguese international and they plan to sell him to the highest bidder.
Espanyol are thought to be leading the race at the moment, but Besiktas vice-president Ahmet Kavalci says they are just one of the interested clubs.
“It’s true that they have asked us for him. For days we have been aware of the possibility, although there are other clubs,” Kavalci explained to AS.
Despite the heavy interest in his services, the Portuguese winger would prefer to return to La Liga, which gives Espanyol a realistic chance of winning the race for his signature.
Simao have enjoyed a lot of success playing for Barcelona and Atletico Madrid and it appears he is set for his third spell in Spanish La Liga.
Since joining Besiktas in a €2 million move from Atletico Madrid, Simao has scored 8 goals in 46 appearances for the Black Eagles.
