La Liga outfit Espanyol are stepping up their efforts to sign Ghanaian forward Christian Atsu from Chelsea, according to Sport.
Los Periquitos have identified the 22-year-old as a perfect option for the left wing position and they have already established initial contact with with both the player and his employers.
Espanyol could face a stiff competition for the youngster’s signature as three Bundesliga sides and Stoke City are believed to be keen.
Nevertheless, they hope to sign Atsu on an outright transfer from Chelsea, which is the best option for the Blues as well.
The Ghana international spent last season on loan at Vitesse, scoring 5 goals and producing 6 assists in 28 Eredivisie outings.
Atsu then went on to start all three matches for the Black Stars at the 2014 World Cup, but could not help his side progress from the group stage.
The talented forward is again set to leave Chelsea and it only remains to be seen if he will be farmed out on loan or sold outright.
