(GSM) – Estudiantes extended their lead in the Argentinian Primera Division with a 2-0 win over Olimpo on Friday.
Olimpo, whose form has been disastrous in recent weeks, could have given Estudiantes a harder time if it wasn’t for the many fouls that were made by the away side.
One of these fouls caused a penalty kick in the 43rd minute, with Gaston Fernandez converting the opportunity for 1-0.
Both Nicolas Bianchi Arce and Marcelo Mosset received a second yellow card in the second half, leaving Olimpo two players down for the final minutes.
In the 86th minute, Estudiantes added their second goal as Rodrigo Lopez scored from yet another penalty.
Estudiantes are now eight points ahead of Velez Sarsfield and Arsenal, but those two still have a game in hand.
