Everton striker Samuel Eto’o has revealed that he dreamed about playing for Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille at the start of his career.
The Cameroon star has enjoyed a stunning career, playing for some of Europe’s top clubs and winning numerous domestic and European titles, but he never got to play in France, usually the first stop for most players from Africa.
Eto’o began his professional career in Spain with Real Madrid and also played for Barcelona, Inter and Chelsea, among other clubs, but he admits he once dreamed about representing Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille.
“When I was younger, I had to two dreams: to play for PSG and Marseille,” the veteran striker said in an interview with Onze Mondial magazine.
“Paradoxical, right? Yes, but the first stadium I saw in my life was the Velodrome (Marseille stadium).”
Samuel Eto’o decided to accept an offer from Everton after being released from his contract with Chelsea this summer, and he has so far scored one goal in three Premiership appearances for the Toffees.
The 33-year-old came on as a late substitute as Everton scored in injury time to hold Liverpool to a 1-1 draw in the Merseyside derby.
