Newly promoted French Ligue 1 side have announced the signing of Greece’s Euro 2004 winning duo of Angelos Charisteas and Angelos Basinas. Charisteas arrives at L’ACA from Nuremberg, while Basinas was last seen playing for English club Portsmouth in the Premier League. Both players have signed two year contracts.
Prior to Nuremberg, Charisteas has played for Aris, Athinaikos, Werder Bremen, Ajax, Feyenoord and Bayer Leverkusen.
Basinas spent 10 years at Panathinaikos before joining Balearic Islanders Mallorca in 2006. He had a short spell with AEK Athens before joining Pompey in 2009.
Charisteas was also part of Greece’s World Cup 2010 squad, but Basinas failed to make the cut.
