Germany ended Denmark’s hopes of a quarter-final berth with a 2-1 victory at Lviv Arena and confirmed top spot in the process.
The Germans had won their opening two games heading into the Group B fixture, while Denmark were sitting on three points, needing a win to secure a passage to the knockout phases.
But goals from Arsenal-bound striker Lukas Podolski and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender made it three wins from three in the group stages for Germany.
Podolski opened his Euro 2012 account with a 19th-minute goal before Denmark hit straight back to level proceedings through Michael Krohn-Dehli four minutes later, however Bender’s 80th-minute goal sent Germany through unbeaten.
