Group C at the Euro 2016 contains 2014 World Cup winners Germany, who are widely regarded as hot favourites for the first place, but they will not have an easy job against the likes of Poland, Ukraine and Northern Ireland.
Die Mannschaft have experienced some problems in the aftermath of the World Cup triumph and they are no longer as relentless as they have been in previous years. Injuries to important midfielders Ilkay Gundogan, Sami Khedira and Bastian Schweinsteiger are creating additional problems.
Nevertheless, taking into account team’s huge experience and quality in all areas as well as the fact that they rarely disappoint at major competitions, Germany look a good bet to win Group C, even though the odds on that happening are less than impressive.
Having already defeated Joachim Low’s charges in the Euro 2016 qualifiers, Poland will be looking to challenge Die Mannschaft for the top place in the group, and the White Eagles definitely have the quality to go far in France.
The likes of Robert Lewandowski, Lukas Piszczek and Grzegorz Krychowiak remain key men for Adam Nawalka, but now Arkadiusz Milik has also stepped up the plate and we fully expect Poland to make it to the knockout stages.
Ukraine are another side that have been on the uptrend of late, giving both Spain and Slovakia a tough time in the qualifying campaign. Zbirna’s chances of enjoying a successful Euro 2016 will rely heavily on the inspiration of star trio Yevhen Konplyanka, Andriy Yarmolenko and Roman Zozulya.
When it comes to the team most likely to finish bottom of the group, we just cannot look past Northern Ireland, who may have produced quite a coup by securing their place among Europe’s elite, but everybody can see they do not have what it takes to play at this level.
