  • La Liga
  • Barcelona remain five points clear at the top in Spain after they beat Getafe 2-1 at the Camp Nou. That hardly tells the whole story however as Barcelona ended the game with just nine men on the pitch.

Goals from Lionel Messi and Xavi were enough to give them the win but they had to work hard after Pique was red carded for a foul on 27 minutes. In injury time at the end of the game Marquez also saw red after he gave away a penalty that Getafe converted, but Barca held on to pick up the points.

Real Madrid had a comfortable 3-0 win over Espanyol with Sergio Ramos, Kaka and Higuain finding the net.

Mallorca move up to third after they beat Villarreal 1-0 courtesy of a late Nunes goal. They replace Sevilla who went down 2-1 at Real Zaragoza. A first half equaliser from Kanoute was not enough.

Bottom club Xerez have started to score some goals. They scored two at Athletic Bilbao. Unfortunately for them, the home scored three.

  • Serie A
  • Inter are now eight points clear in Italy after they beat Cagliari without breaking sweat. Pandev and Samuel found the net in the first half and Militi added one after the break to give them a 3-0 win.

Roma move into second place with a good 1-0 win at Fiorentina. A late Vucinic goal gave them the points.

AC Milan are two points further back after they were held to a goalless draw at Bologna.

At the bottom, Siena are seven points adrift after they lost 2-1 at home to Sampdoria.

  • Bundesliga
  • Bayern Munich continued their good form and climb up the table when their win over Wolfsburg took them level on points with leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayern won 3-1 away at the champions with goals from Robben, Van Buyten and Ribery.

Meanwhile, Leverkusen were unable to capitalise on a first half goal from Derdiyok and ended up drawing 1-1 at VfL Bochum.

Schalke are a long way back, but clear in third place after they drew 0-0 at SC Freiburg.

  • Eridivisie
  • PSV took advantage of their game in hand on FC Twente by beating ADO Den Haag 2-0 with goals from Rodriguez and Toivonen. That win takes PSV three points clear of Twente are themselves six points clear of Ajax in third.

  • Ligue 1
  • Despite losing 4-2 at Rennes, Bordeaux are still three points clear at the top in France. Goals from Goulfran and Wendell proved to be consolations only.

Montpellier are second after Camara and an injury-time goal from Montano gave them a 2-0 win at Boulogne. Lille are third but dropped points in a 1-1 draw at Lille.

  • Liga Sagres
  • Benfica missed an opportunity to go six points clear in Portugal after they were held to a 1-1 draw at Vitoria Setubal. Both goals in that game were own goals.

Braga now have two games in hand on Benfica and only have a four point deficit to make up.

  • Greek Super League
  • Panathinaikos remain six points clear in Greece after they and second placed Olympiakos both had easy wins.

The leaders won 3-0 at Larissa whilst Olympiakos saw off Levadiakos 5-1.

  • Turkell Super Lig
  • Leaders Fenerbahce were held 1-1 at home by Diyarbakirspor but second placed Galatasaray were unable to take advantage as they were held 0-0 at third placed Kayserispor.

Dirk Kuyt is such a solid player and extremely valuable. I cant understand why so few sing his praises. It took his 2 goals against Tottenham to cause comment! How many times has he been out injured and had to be replaced? How many times is he everywhere on the field. He is no.1 reliable member of the team.
