  • La Liga
  • Barcelona and Real Madrid go marching on with an impressive looking Sevilla not far behind them.

Barcelona strolled to a 2-0 victory at Malaga with Ibrahimovic, inevitably, and Pique getting the goals whilst Luque saw red for Malaga.

Three goals in the second-half at the Bernabeu as Real ran out 3-0 winners over Tenerife. Benzema grabbed a pair with Kaka scoring the other.

Sevilla are starting to look good and they were 4-0 winners at Athletic Bilbao who had Amorebieta sent off early in the second half, although Sevilla were already 3-0 up by then.

Valencia dropped points at home after Pablo and David Villa had given them a 2-1 lead over Atletico Madrid before Maxi bagged an injury-time equaliser.

Well done to Xerez who picked up their first point in a 0-0 draw at Espanyol.

  • Serie A
  • Sampdoria, Juventus, Inter and Fiorentina lead the way in Italy after six games with Sampdoria sitting at the top of the pile after they beat Mourinho’s Inter 1-0. The winning goal came from Pazzini mid-way through the second half.

A first half David Trezeguet goal was only enough to see Juventus draw 1-1 at home to Bologna who equalised deep into stoppage time. Fiorentina had no such issues, winning 1-0 at bottom club Livorno, although they needed a penalty to win the game.

Milan’s woes continued as they drew 0-0 at home to Bari.

  • Bundesliga
  • Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen are still riding high in Germany after they both won their games this week 1-0. Bayer Leverkusen had an excellent 1-0 win at Cologne, who had Maniche sent off after Rolfes had won the game for the visitors.

A second-half Petric goal gave Hamburg a 1-0 win over Bayern Munich who slip to seventh place.

Werder Bremen and Wolfsburg had fine wins to keep them in touch and Hoffenheim rose to third place after they destroyed a hapless Hertha Berlin side 5-1, leaving their opponents in bottom place.

  • Eridivisie
  • The Dutch league has a familiar look to it as PSV, Twente, Ajax and Feyenoord occupy the top four places.

PSV remained at the top after beating Willem II 3-1. Steve McClaren’s FC Twente stayed hot on their heels beating VVV Venlo 2-1 at home. Ruiz and Franco got the goals for Twente as they had to recover from conceding an early goal.

Ajax had a 3-0 home win against ADO Den Haag whilst Feyenoord won 2-0 at NAC despite having Landzaat sent off near the end of the game.

Champions AZ Alkmaar slipped further off the pace losing 1-0 at FC Utrecht.

  • Ligue 1
  • Bordeaux remain two points clear at the top in France after Wendell gave them a narrow 1-0 win over Rennes. Lyon kept up the pressure with a 2-1 victory over Toulouse.

Marseille are three points further back after surprisingly going down 3-2 at Valenciennes.

Spare a thought for Grenoble who have played seven, lost seven, scored two, conceded fourteen. It’s going to be a very long season for them.

  • Portugal
  • Braga kept their 100% start to the season, but only just. They needed an Alan goal three minutes into stoppage time to secure a 1-0 win at Olhanense.

Benfica are only two points back and they had an emphatic 5-0 victory over Leixoes. The victory looks a little less impressive when you realise that Leixoes had a man sent off in the 28th minute and Benfica didn’t take the lead until the stroke of half-time. It gets even less so when you know that Benfica’s other four goals didn’t arrive until Leixoes had another man red carded and were reduced to nine!

Porto are in third place and pushed Sporting down the league by beating them 1-0 with an early Garcia goal. Sporting also managed to get two players sent off.

  • SPL
  • Celtic extended their lead to four points at the top in Scotland at the weekend whilst Hibernian joined Rangers in second place.

Celtic had a relatively comfortable 2-0 win at St Mirren with McCourt and Maloney getting on the score-sheet.

Rangers drew again, this time failing to trouble the scoreboard at home to Aberdeen.

Hibernian have crept up to join Rangers after they had a fine 3-1 win at Motherwell.

  • Greece
  • Olympiakos and Panathinaikos lead the way in Greece after they both had 1-0 wins at the weekend. Panathinaikos had a particularly impressive win at AEK Athens.

  • Turkey
  • There is no stopping Fenerbahce in Turkey as they extended their 100% record to seven games on Saturday, winning 2-1 at Antalyaspor.

Galatasaray lost their 100% record when they were held 1-1 at home by third placed Eskisehirspor.
