Former Sunderland loanee and current Manchester United defender Jonny Evans still regards his time at the Stadium of Light highly.
The 23-year-old enjoyed loan spells on Wearside in the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons and is wary of the threat his former side present.
“Steve Bruce’s teams always seem to do well in the Premier League and he’s a good manager,” Evans told MUTV.
“I’ve got a lot of fond memories from my time at Sunderland but I’ll be looking to do a job on Saturday and get three points before the international break.”
“(Sunderland have) had a draw and a win in their last two games so they’ll be coming here wanting to put in a big performance.”
Meanwhile, Evans said the 6-1 defeat by rivals Manchester City will always be remembered by the club’s supporters.
Evans endured a miserable afternoon at Old Trafford as he was sent off after bringing down City striker Mario Balotelli when the Italian was through on goal.
“I don’t think that will be erased from the memory. Especially for the fans it was a tough day, a tough day for everyone involved at the football club,” he told ITV Sport.
“The good thing about football is you can go out and make amends next week, and it’s still a long season. We’ll push on and learn from our mistakes.”
United trail league leaders City by five points, while the Black Cats are 14th on 10 points.
