Reports are circulating that Spurs could be poised to make a shock swoop for Everton captain Phil Neville.
Neville, who will turn 34 this month, has been in impressive form this season, and Harry Redknapp is an admirer of the former Manchester United full-back.
But Redknapp admitted it would be difficult to lure Neville away from Everton, where he has spent the past six years – four of them as club captain – although Spurs do have the added incentive of Champions League football to offer.
“He’s a great player but I’m sure David Moyes knows just how important he is to his team,” Redknapp said.
“He’s a real leader for them and David wouldn’t want to lose him so it’d be a difficult one.”
The Daily Mail has reported Spurs have offered Everton about 1.5 million pounds for Neville, and the newspaper also claimed the negotiations were at an advanced stage.
David Beckham is scheduled to begin training at White Hart Lane on Tuesday, and Redknapp has also boosted his squad with the signing of South African defender Bongani Khumalo.
