Everton finally have their first taste of Europa League this season, with German Bundesliga side Wolfsburg their opponents. The Toffees boast a strong side, but have been in poor form so far this campaign, amassing just five points from their first four league games.
Their defensive record has been a worry too, with Roberto Martinez’s side having shipped 10 goals so far, but they will be hoping to keep Wolfsburg quiet at Goodison Park tonight.
It’s been four years since Everton were last playing in a European competition, and Betfair are giving them odds of 21/20 to get all three points from their opening match tonight. Despite enjoying a fantastic 2013/14 campaign, Wolfsburg haven’t enjoyed a good start to this season, with the Germans winless from their three league outings.
As a result, Everton will be confident of inflicting more damage on the Bundesliga side, as Wolfsburg are notoriously disappointing on their travels – winning only five away games in the last 10 months.
