Real Madrid veteran could reportedly be on his way to the Premier League this summer, with Everton and Leeds United in the frame. That’s according to the Mirror, who claim the Spanish giants have decided to sell and replace the experienced Brazilian. Carlo Ancelotti, who recently left Everton to coach Real again, apparently has no place for him in the plans for next season. Marcelo’s contract expires in 2022, and it seems Real are keen to cash in on his services while they can.
The representatives of the 33-year-old are therefore working on identifying a suitable destination, and it is believed the player himself wants it to be either England or Italy, with a contract for at least two years. Everton have been named the early favourites in the race, but Leeds also have a strong interest in Marcelo and nothing has been agreed yet.
Marcelo has played a total of 528 games for Real over 14 years, scoring 38 times and producing 101 assists, and helping his team win five La Liga titles, the Copa del Rey twice, four Champions League trophies, four FIFA Club World Cup trophies, and three UEFA Super Cups.
