Everton and Newcastle are both interested in Yussuf Poulsen of RB Leipzig, according to the Express.
Apparently, Marco Silva has ordered his scouts to fly to Germany to observe the striker, whom they followed from a distance throughout last season. The Everton boss is keen on bringing the 25-year-old to Merseyside, believing that his formidable frame, standing 6’4″ tall, would offer him a completely different option in attack to those already at his disposal.
Last week, the Merseyside Blues suffered a shocking defeat at the hands of Premier League newcomers Sheffield United, and they obviously feel that a player who could score goals on a regular basis would help turn their fortunes around.
Last season, Poulsen scored 19 goals which made it his best campaign since arriving to Leipzig six years ago. Everton’s representatives will be checking out the Denmark international further over the next few weeks, before reporting back to Silva and the club board.
Meanwhile, Everton are facing competition from Newcastle, with manager Steve Bruce desperate for a fresh hitman upfront.
