Everton, Benfica keen on Raul Meireles

Turkish daily newspaper Takvim has suggested that Everton and Benfica are showing interest in Fenerbahce midfielder Raul Meireles.

The 32-year-old has another year left on his deal with the Turkish giants, but he is reportedly looking to leave at the end of the season.

A return to native Portugal may be on the cards and Benfica are ready to make a move on the veteran midfielder despite the fact that he began his career at rivals FC Porto.

Premier League outfit Everton are also keen on Meireles’ services and may decide to make their interest concrete at the end of the season.

The Portugal international has spent last three years with Fenerbahce having joined from Chelsea, making 60 league appearances and scoring 5 goals.

Meireles’ international career appears to be drawing to a close though, with the midfielder failing to appear in a single game since Fernando Santos took over last summer.
