Everton have submitted an offer of £18 million (€20m) for Sergio Reguilon of Real Madrid, according to Sky Sports.
The 23-year-old spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Sevilla, and has been voted the best left-back in La Liga for his high-quality performances in the 31 appearances he made for them in the campaign, scoring twice and providing his teammates with four assists.
He is now back in Madrid, but his prospect of first-team football there still isn’t great with Marcelo and Ferland Mendy both ahead of him in the pecking order. Real do rate his talents, but given that they are well-stocked for the position, as well as their need for funds this summer, they are likely to be willing to do a deal.
On the other hand, Everton veteran Leighton Baines has retired from playing professionally, and manager Carlo Ancelotti, a former Real boss, is keen to secure a replacement in the squad and provide first-choice left-back Lucas Digne with some serious competition.
