Everton continue to pursue Doucoure

According to a recent report from Sky Sports, Everton are still in talks to try and complete the signing of Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Some reports had indicated that another club may have come in at the eleventh hour, potentially Wolverhampton Wanderers, but Everton are still believed to be in the driving seat.

The two sides are currently quite far off in their valuation, with Watford pricing him at £35 million. With Everton looking to buy a handful of new players heading into the summer transfer window they may not want to ‘overspend’ on one player, but they definitely need someone to control the pace in the middle of the park.

Doucoure has been viewed as a particularly underrated member of Watford’s squad, and now that they’ve slipped back down into the Championship, you’d have to imagine that he will be in line for a big move elsewhere before the new season begins.
