Everton are considering an £8m move for Manchester midfielder Tom Cleverley, according to the Metro.
The 24 year old’s future at Old Trafford is far from certain though new manager Louis van Gaal did name him as captain in the recent friendly victory over Roma.
He started just eighteen league games in each of the last two seasons for the Premier League giants, winning thirteen senior international caps in that time though he did not make Roy Hodgson’s final 23-man squad for this summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil.
Before breaking into the United first team, Cleverley enjoyed loan spells with Leicester City, Watford and lastly Wigan Athletic, where he played twenty-five times under Toffee’s boss Roberto Martinez.
Everton, who finished two places and eight points above Manchester United last season, begin the forthcoming campaign against newly promoted Leicester City at the Walkers Stadium a week on Saturday, and can be backed at 11/8 for the win.
