Premier League outfit Everton have emerged as hot favourites to land highly-rated Las Palmas defender Mauricio Lemos, according to reports from the Telegraph.
The 21-year-old centre-back caught the public eye both for his talent and the fact he rejected a proposed move to Barcelona due to feeling that he wouldn’t be given regular playing opportunities at Camp Nou.
Ronald Koeman is believed to be considering a bid for the young Uruguayan to Goodison as Dutch boss looks to build up his squad for next season. The Toffees boast impressive firepower upfront but were criticized on far too many occasions for their defensive vulnerability and Koeman appears determined to add strength to his back line.
Talented defender Lemos is valued at around £18 million pounds.
Las Palmas still have four years in his contract with Las Palmas and La Liga side would be willing to get as much money as they possibly can for the player they signed in 2016 from Rubin Kazan.
