Everton are hoping to sign Kurt Zouma from Chelsea and Andre Gomes from Barcelona on permanent deals this summer, manager Marco Silva has confirmed.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Silva said that it would be great if the Merseysiders could keep the defender and the midfielder, calling them high-quality player whom the fans really love. The matter is not in Everton’s hands, however. Both players are due to return to their parent clubs after the next week’s season finale against Tottenham Hotspur, and while Barcelona don’t seem particularly keen on having Gomes back, it may prove more difficult with Zouma as a two-window transfer ban looms over Stamford Bridge.
Should the decision be upheld and Chelsea banned from signing new players, and given the situations surrounding some of their current defenders, they might be forced to keep hold of Zouma. Gary Cahill, two-time Premier League and 2012 Champions League winner for the Londoners, has had an angry outburst and said it was very hard to respect manager Maurizio Sarri.
