Everton are closing in on signing Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo, according to BBC Sport.
The Toffees boss David Moyes recently confirmed that he would attempt to sign few more players before the transfer window closed, but the Scottish manager has yet to lure a high-profile player to Goodison Park.
After club’s £8.6 million move for Twente midfielder Leroy Fer fell through, Everton have been linked with a swoop for Sevilla star Alvaro Negredo.
BBC Sport understands that the Toffees are in talks with the La Liga club over a January move to Goodison Park, with Sevilla holding out for £13 million.
Everton are hoping to lower the asking price significantly and they might just be able to do that considering that los Rojiblancos need cash from the sale to balance their books.
Negredo, 27, is widely regarded as one of the best strikers in La Liga, having scored 54 goals in 121 league appearances for Sevilla.
Should Everton succeed in their attempt to lure the player to Goodison Park, it will undoubtedly be one of the best transfer deals in club’s recent history.
