Everton boss David Moyes is lining up a move for Sporting Lisbon star Joao Moutinho, but may find competition from some of Europe’s top clubs, according to the Daily Mirror.
The midfielder’s agents are working to find the star a move abroad and clubs such as Barcelona and Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move, however it appears that Everton are the only club to have expressed real interest.
Moutinho, 21, is currently captain of Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon and has been touted as the next RuiCosta among the Portuguese press. Moutinho has impressed with his skillful style of play and creativity and was made Sporting’s youngest ever captain at just 19.
Moutinho is currently with the Portugal squad for Euro 2008 and impressed in the teams first game against Turkey and Everton representatives are believed to be in Switzerland/ Austria to watch the star. The star is believed to have been valued around the £12 million mark, with Everton ready to pay up to £15 million for the midfielder.
