Everton appear very persistent in their intention to sign Nathan Patterson from Rangers. Having seen two bids for the services of the 20-year-old turned down, the Merseysiders are about to make a third, according to The Guardian, with manager Rafa Benizez keen on strengthening both defensive flanks.
The first offer reportedly stood at £5 million and was labelled by Steven Gerrard, Rangers boss at the time, as a ‘joke’, before a £9m one suffered the same fate.
Patterson prefers playing on the right defensive flank, where Everton completely depend on captain Seamus Coleman. The 20-year-old has made a total of 11 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish champions, though only two of those have been Premiership starts.
As for the left, Vitaliy Mykolenko is expected to arrive from Dynamo Kyiv next month to provide competition, or possibly a long-term replacement, for Lucas Digne. Recent reports suggest the former Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona man could leave Goodison at the end of the season.
