Everton secure youngster Rodwell

Everton talent Jack Rodwell has committed his future to the club, signing a deal that should keep him at Goodison Park for the next five years.

The 17-year-old midfielder made his way through Everton’s academy and appeared in 13 games this season. Last weekend, he scored his first senior goal in the side’s FA Cup clash with Aston Villa.

“When we get good young players, we want to sign them up and keep them,” said manager David Moyes.

Rodwell, both in Southport, has also made several appearances for England’s youth teams.
