Everton have confirmed the signing of Greek striker Apostolos Vellios on the same day they turned down Tottenham’s bid for Phil Neville.
Vellios arrives at Goodison Park from Greek Superleague club Iraklis Thessaloniki for an undisclosed fee.
The Greek under-19 international has signed a deal that will keep him at Everton until 2014.
Everton also rejected a bid from Premier League rivals Tottenham for the services of captain Phil Neville.
Spurs manager Harry Redknapp confirmed the one-and-a-half-million-pound approach for the former Manchester United defender on transfer deadline day.
“We made an offer to Everton,” Redknapp told Sky Sports News.
“If David (Moyes) doesn’t want to sell him then that’s fine. It’s up to Everton whether they want to accept the offer we’ve made.”
