Everton are interested in signing Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Premier League rivals Arsenal in the summer transfer window, according to Sky Sports. It has been reported that the Toffees want to secure the services of the midfielder on loan for this season, and the Gunners themselves are open to letting the 23-year-old leave on loan.
Maitland-Niles, who can also play as a right-back, spent the second half of last season on loan at West Bromwich Albion during the second half of last season. The Baggies got relegated to the Championship. The 23-year-old England international made 14 starts and one substitute appearances in the Premier League for West Brom.
Arsenal are well stocked in midfield, and Maitland-Niles is unlikely to get regular playing time under manager Mikel Arteta this season. A loan move to Everton where he would play under Rafael Benitez may not be a bad idea for the youngster.
