According to Liverpool Echo, Everton are interested in signing Nicolas Pepe of Lille this summer.
Manager Marco Silva is looking to add a quality left-footed player to play on the right flank of his attack as he aims to challenge the Premier League’s top six next season, and he believes Pepe is a good candidate for the role. At Goodison, they seem aware that the Ivorian won’t come cheap, given that he is being linked with a number of top clubs across Europe. In England, Arsenal and Everton’s neighbours Liverpool have been mentioned, with Lille president claiming that the Champions League winners have already contacted the player. Various outlets have also mentioned Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan and Napoli.
However, Everton are worried that the amount of interest in the 24-year-old may result in a bidding war and that they might end up priced out of the move. Nonetheless, they have decided to test Lille’s resolve with Pepe reportedly valued at £60 million.
