Evra pens new United deal

This is the one bit of good news that Manchester United fans have heard all summer. Patrice Evra has signed a contract extension with Manchester United. Now, the France full-back is tied to the club until 2012, BBC reports.

Patrice Evra joined United in January 2006 and penned a three and a half year deal which was due to expire next summer. Stalled negotiation over the course of the season as well as the player's declarations that many clubs were interested in signing him, worried United fans that the player might leave.

Evra who just turned 27 has been absolutely key for Manchester United in their double this season and he is by some considered to be the best left-back in the world.
