Czech midfielder Rudolf Skacel is going back to Slavia Prague after his contract with strugglers Southampton expired in the spring, the top flight Czech club said on its website on Tuesday.
Skacel joined Olympique Marseille from Slavia in 2003 and moved on through Panathinaikos, Heart of Midlothian, and Hertha Berlin.
The 30-year-old European under-21 champion from 2002 has played five games and scored once for the national team.
An out-of-contract Skacel will enjoy the status of amateur when he first returns home.
“If both sides are interested, we could sign a professional contract,” Slavia spokesman Ondrej Zlamal said.
