According to a recent report from Kicker, RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner’s new four year contract is set to include a £27 million release clause which would be expected to be triggered by German giants Bayern Munich next summer. Bayern have come to terms with the fact that they aren’t going to be able to sign Werner during the current window, which has led to them switching their focus elsewhere. Werner is viewed as one of the most exciting young forwards in world football today, but even with that being the case, it doesn’t really feel like he’s pushing too hard for this Bayern move right now.
Leipzig are still viewed as serious contenders in Bundesliga despite the resurrection of Borussia Dortmund and continued success of Bayern in recent years, to the point where another season with the club wouldn’t exactly be the worst thing for his development at this point in time.
