Football Italia is today reporting that a deal taking Ezequiel Lavezzi to Paris St Germain has been finalised.
In a bizarre twist to this transfer story involving the Argentina midfielder, it is Cagliari President Massimo Cellino that has broken the news.
Referring to the future of Lavezzi, he said: “Yesterday evening I met with PSG’s President and he told me that they have signed Lavezzi.”
Should the 27-year-old move to PSG, he would be involved in what many hope to be a successful new era for the club under Carlo Ancelotti.
This news will come as a blow to Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester City who were both reportedly interested in securing the midfielder’s signature.
Currently playing for Napoli, Lavezzi has impressed many in Serie A over the last five years and now it appears he is ready to embark on a new challenge.
Meanwhile, PSG are also in the hunt to sign Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric according to the Daily Mail.
As part of an exclusive story, it was revealed that PSG boss Ancelotti is willing to splash the cash on the Croatian who is also wanted by Manchester United.
Overall, a very busy summer awaits for PSG as they look to build a squad capable of challenging for major honours next season.
