Non-league side Crawley Town stunned Derby County 2-1 on Monday to move into the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Crawley, who sit a full 60 places below Championship outfit Derby, won thanks to an injury-time strike from Sergio Torres, after Miles Addison’s header had cancelled out Craig McAllister’s opener for the Conference National side.

Derby have hopes of returning to the Premier League next season after a good run in the Championship, and they should have gone ahead early on at Broadfield Stadium after Crawley goalkeeper Michel Kuipers brought down Chris Porter.

But Kuipers made amends by saving Kris Commons’ spot kick, and the hosts made Derby pay 20 minutes later when McAllister fired the ball home after the Rams’ defence failed to clear Kuipers’ long kick.

Derby pushed for an equaliser at the start of the second half and found it on 62 minutes when Addison stooped to head home Commons’ curling free kick.

Just when it looked as though a replay would be needed, Torres connected with Dean Howell’s corner to extend Crawley’s unbeaten run to 11 matches in all competitions and set up a fourth round clash with League Two side Torquay United.
