League Two outfit Macclesfield Town won their way into the third round of the FA Cup with a 1-0 win over Chelmsford City on Wednesday.

Gary Simpson’s men entered the game without a win in four but were still fancied against the Conference South side.

And they justified their favourites tag with the only goal of the match on 26 minutes when defender Carl Tremarco hit the back of the net.

Macclesfield Town held onto their lead and will now entertain Premier League strugglers Bolton Wanderers in the third round.
