Liverpool and Chelsea both progressed to the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday, with wins over their respective rivals.
Anfield club Liverpool claimed a 2-1 victory at home at English Premier League champions Manchester United, courtesy of a late strike from Dutchman Dirk Kuyt.
Daniel Agger fired the hosts ahead through a back-post header in the 21st minute, with Park Ji-Sung responding for Sir Alex Ferguson’s men on 38 minutes when he powered home a cross from Rafael.
But Kuyt had the final say on the contest in the 88th minute, drilling a shot past goalkeeper David de Gea after Andy Carroll flicked a header into the attacker’s path.
In a west London derby, Chelsea gained revenge away to Queens Park Rangers, reversing their 1-0 league loss at Loftus Road earlier this season with victory by the same scoreline.
Similarly to their league outing, the match was decided by a contentious penalty – converted by Juan Mata – as referee Mike Dean adjudged Clint Hill to have fouled Daniel Sturridge in the area, despite minimal contact.
