West Brom defender Pablo Ibanez has won an appeal against a one-match ban after the red card he picked up in a recent Premier League defeat to Blackpool was rescinded by England’s Football Association (FA).

Ibanez was sent off in the 11th minute of Monday’s match at Bloomfield Road after he was adjudged to have brought down Blackpool striker DJ Campbell inside the area.

The sanction led to an automatic one-match ban, however Ibanez appealed and the FA confirmed that his claim for wrongful dismissal had been upheld by an independent regulatory commission.

Ibanez will now be available for Sunday’s game against Manchester City.

West Brom finished the game with nine men after Gonzalo Jara was also dismissed for a lunge on Luke Varney shortly before the half-hour mark.
