Fabiano receives Sao Paulo welcome

New Sao Paulo striker Luis Fabiano was given an explosive welcome when officially presented to the club’s fans at Morumbi Stadium.

Fabiano joined the Brazilian giants from Spanish side Sevilla in a four-year deal worth around eight million euros.

The move sees him return to the club he spent three years at before moving to Sevilla in 2004, and could help the 30-year-old’s bid to be recalled to Brazil’s national team.

Fabiano though insists that his priority lies with his new club.

“Regarding the Brazilian national tea, it’s like I have said, it is something I still keep in mind because I believe I still can help the Brazilian squad, but I will first dedicate myself to Sao Paulo because these things should happen naturally,” he said.

Fabiano left Spain having scored 106 goals in all competitions for Sevilla.

Sao Paulo fans are hopeful the former FC Porto striker can replicate the kind of scoring form he showed when he was last at the Morumbi.

In his previous spell with the club he scored 118 goals in 160 games.

“I think there will be huge pressure and they will not take less than what I did in my last stay here,” Fabiano said.

“I know all that and I am aware of the pressure and I’m prepared to face all that. I’m ready to make an effort and work hard to score goals and help my team and win some important title.”
