Portuguese daily newspaper A Bola claims that Real Madrid full-back Fabio Coentrao is keen on joining Sporting CP at the end of the season.
The Portugal international is desperate to leave los Blancos in order to kick-start his career and he admitted a return to Primeira Liga could be on the cards.
His former coach at Benfica Jorge Jesus is determined to bring Coentrao to Sporting CP and it would appear as though the 29-year-old would jump at the opportunity to join the Lions.
Sources close to the player suggest that the full-back has no problem with signing for Benfica’s arch rivals, although he would only accept an offer from Estadio Jose Alvalade if Jorge Jesus stays.
The highly rated tactician recently clashed with club chairman Bruno de Carvalho and it remains to be seen whether the duo can sort out their differences in the coming weeks.
