Cesc Fabregas returned to training with Arsenal on Thursday to give the Gunners hope that their captain will remain at the Premier League club.
Fabregas expressed his desire to rejoin his former club Barcelona at the end of last season and his future is still unresolved after the Spanish champions failed to persuade Arsenal to sell the midfielder for 30 million pounds (36 million euros).
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is adamant Fabregas is not for sale at any price, but several of Barca’s top players have gone public with their belief the Spanish World Cup winner will get his wish to move to the Nou Camp eventually.
Fabregas has yet to comment publicly on the situation but he looked happy enough as he lined up alongside Wenger and the rest of the Arsenal squad for the team’s pre-season photo.
Fabregas is due to train in front of an expected 10,000 Arsenal fans at the club’s members’ day at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday.
