Cesc Fabregas welcomes Real interest
Even though he is widely tipped to join Barcelona in the near future, Cesc Fabregas failed to deny speculation linking him to Real Madrid.
The product of Barcelona youth school surprisingly did not rule out the possibility of joining los Merengues.
“I never said I didn’t want to wear Real jersey, far from it. I think it’s a great club.
“But I’ve always looked at other targets for me. Right now, I know what I want. I want to play and nothing else.
“I have my wishes and dreams as a player.”
We can only guess what possessed Fabregas to speak so highly of Real in the midst of Barca interest, but his statements are likely to add more fuel to El Clasico rivalry.

Ajax centre-back on Arsenal radar
Arsene Wenger is still not satisfied with the look of his back line and he is pondering a move for Ajax stopper Jan Vertonghen.
The Frenchman has had his scouts watch the Belgian international in the opening games of the season and they seem to have been convinced Vertonghen is the right man for Arsenal.
Versatility is one of Vertonghen’s biggest qualities as he can also play holding midfielder or at left-back, while the fact he has already established a very good defensive partnership with Thomas Vermaelen at both club and international level would be a bonus for Arsene Wenger.
The Belgian defender is regarded as one of the key players at Amsterdam ArenA and his contract with the Dutch giants doesn’t expire until 2013 but Ajax could be forced to sell players in order to boost their finances.
Having become a key player for both club and country at 21, Vertonghen boasts a solid amount of experience for such a young player and he would probably adjust to the Premier League standards just as quickly as Thomas Vermaelen, so I have no doubts he would be an excellent signing for the Gunners.

Atletico Madrid tracking PSV playmaker
Atletico Madrid have singled out Holland international Ibrahim Afellay as their number one target for season 2011-12.
According to reports from Holland, Atletico sporting director, Garcia Pitarch has already contacted the player’s agent Rob Jansen.
Afellay’s contract with PSV is set to expire in a year’s time and he will be free to negotiate with other clubs as early as January.
Los Colchoneros see the creative midfielder of Moroccan descent as a player who can add a new dimension to Quique Sanchez Flores’ side, although they face a stiff competition from big European clubs.
Having rejected bids from Fulham, Everton and Hamburg last summer, Afellay seems to be holding out for one of the big clubs to make an official offer, and we are yet to see if Atletico Madrid are big enough to win the race for his signature.
