(GSM) – Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas is clinging to the hope that he could yet play in the Champions League final.
Fabregas has been told he will miss the remainder of the domestic season after suffering a small crack in his right fibula during the latter stages of Wednesday’s 2-2 Champions League draw with Barcelona.
He is facing around six weeks on the sidelines and is now involved in a race against time to prove his fitness for Spain’s World Cup squad.
However, Fabregas is refusing to give up hope of making a comeback in the Champions League Final should the Gunners overcome Barcelona in next week’s second leg at the Camp Nou.
“My leg is broken – and I feel broken too,” Fabregas told.
Skipper said, “The penalty I scored against Barcelona could be my last act as an Arsenal player this season.”
He hoped, “But I have to cling to the hope that we can get through at the Nou Camp, win our semi-final and I might be fit for the Champions League Final.”
“That might be asking a lot, but it is my dream and what I pray for,” he shared.
