(GSM) – Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas has not ruled out leaving Arsenal this summer to secure a dream move to Barcelona. The Gunners captain admitted that he cannot guarantee that he will be playing in an Arsenal shirt come next season.
The 23-year-old has enjoyed a long conversation with manager Arsene Wenger with the latter asking the player to deal with the Barcelona deal.
Fabregas said: “I will say only one thing – I have got massive respect for Arsene Wenger, Arsenal Football Club and the Arsenal fans. Even in my own house I have not felt as loved as I have at Arsenal.
“I had a long conversation with Arsene and it was the greatest conversation I have had with anyone in my life.
“I respect him so, so much and I don’t want to say anything more. Wenger said to leave it in his hands and he will deal with whatever happens in the future. It is now all about Arsenal – it is not in my hands.
“Now I just wait, it is up to Arsenal. Right now all I am thinking about is the World Cup. Everything else is the future and I am not going to say anything else.”
When asked if he could guarantee that he would still be playing for Arsenal next season, Fabregas replied: “No.”
Ironically, Fabregas last played against Barcelona in the Champions League quarter final’s first leg which ended 2-2. Fabregas made the scoreline 2-2 with an 85th minute penalty.
During the match, the midfielder, who is getting ready for the World Cup with the rest of the Spain squad, picked up an injury which ruled him out of the season.
He added: “It was really disappointing to miss the last two months of the season: we were fighting for the league and the Champions League and to miss that is never great, especially as I felt
I was in the best form of my career.”
Although Barcelona’s interest is not anything new, Arsenal maintain that they have not received an official bid for Fabregas from the Catalan club.
