Well-known journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Liverpool have turned down the chance to sign Ezequiel Garay. The 34-year-old central defender is a free agent at the moment, having left Spanish club Valencia at the end of last season.
Romano has said that the former Real Madrid centre-back has been offered to Liverpool amid their injury problems at the back. Both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are long-term absentees and may not return to action this season.
However, according to Romano, the defending Premier League champions have turned down the chance to bring Argentina international centre-back Garay at Anfield.
Romano said on Here We Go Podcast: “Garay was offered to Liverpool as a free agent but they said no. He’s not the type of player they want.
“They are in no rush, they are looking at the window for opportunities. They are more interested in extending contracts.”
