Radamel Falcao believes his former coach Andre Villas-Boas will be a big success at Tottenham.
Falcao shone under Villas-Boas at Porto as the Portuguese side claimed a league, cup and Europa League treble in 2010/11 before both went their separate ways.
The Colombian signed for Atletico Madrid, while Villas-Boas joined Chelsea, and although that move failed to work out for the Portuguese coach, the Atletico target man is sure his former boss will be hit at new club Tottenham.
“Villas-Boas is a great coach,” he told Goal.com. “He is very young, very obsessive with detail, he feels and breathes football.
“I don’t know what went wrong at Chelsea, and it’s difficult for me to assess the situation as I don’t know the details, but I know him and I know he will do well at Spurs or wherever he goes.”
Falcao was linked with Chelsea after Villas-Boas moved to Stamford Bridge, and has been associated with a possible Premier League switch this year but he insisted he has no desire to play in England at this stage of his career.
“I don’t really dream about the Premier League,” Falcao said. “I know it’s followed worldwide but I really just think of the Spanish league with Atletico. My mind is not set on another league right now.
“I have a four-year contract, therefore I will stay at Atletico. That’s what I know at the moment.”
Having won the Europa League at Porto under Villas-Boas in 2010/11, Falcao repeated the feat last term for Diego Simeone’s side and became the first player in the history of the competition to finish as top goalscorer in two successive years.
“Obviously, the best moment of the season was winning the Europa League,” the striker said. “I had some very nice moments during the season, but that one stands out above the rest.”
And he was full of praise for Simeone, with whom he also worked at River Plate earlier in his career.
“Simeone is a great coach. He is passionate about football, analyses our rivals thoroughly, knows his tactics and never leaves anything to chance. He’s a winner,” he said.
