Atletico Madrid have poured cold water on speculations linking star striker Radamel Falcao Garcia with a summer exit from Vicente Calderon.
The Colombian forward only joined los Colchoneros last summer, but has been heavily linked with a move away from the club.
Falcao largely impressed in his first season at Vicente Calderon and managed to establish himself as one of the most prolific forwards in world football.
He was subsequently linked with a host of Europe’s top clubs, but it looks that he will be staying at Atletico Madrid after all.
Loc Colchoneros sporting director Jose Luis Caminero is adamant the Colombian will not be leaving the cub this summer.
“One thing is clear: Falcao stays at Atletico, he will not be leaving,” Caminero told AS.
“This year he is safe with us. We do not contemplate another possibility.”
Atletico still owe Porto over €25 million for the transfer of Falcao, which is why they were believed to be contemplating the sale in the first place.
However, the 26-year-old has more than justified his €40 million price tag, having scored 36 goals in 50 competitive appearances for los Colchoneros.
