Fans deserve title success, says Shaqiri

Xherdan Shaqiri says Bayern Munich will do whatever it takes to win the Bundesliga title for their supporters this term.

The Bavarians top the league with 42 points from 17 games, holding a nine-point lead over second-placed Bayer Leverkusen, and the midfielder is determined to keep up their current form.

“It would be the biggest highlight of them all if we were to lift the Bundesliga trophy next summer,” Shaqiri was quoted as saying on the club’s official website.

“Our fans need something to celebrate again at last.”

The Switzerland international also took the time to discuss his personal progress since his summer move from Basel, saying he was pleased with the way things are going so far.
