Chelsea star Eden Hazard is eager to join Real Madrid at some point in the future according to his father.
The 26-year-old has another two and a half years left on his deal at Stamford Bridge, but he recently rejected a new contract offer from the Blues.
His father has now suggested that the main reason behind the decision was the reported interest from Real Madrid.
“What I can reveal about Eden is that he refused a contract extension,” Thierry Hazard told Le Soir.
“This was so that, if necessary, he could follow the interest of the Real, whom he could see himself playing for.
“But, as of right now, there is no contact from Real Madrid. Eden is only one of the parties involved in his future.”
Eden Hazard has been heavily linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season and it is now up to Chelsea officials to try and persuade him to stay.
