Father shocked by Busquets progress

Carles Busquets admits that he is surprised with the positive impact his son Sergio is making at Barcelona.

The 20-year-old has been a hit this season and it is believed he could make his full Spain debut later this season.

Carles played for Barcelona during the 1990s.

“I do not think that anyone was expecting it. We all saw that he had something, that he gave up everything and that he lived for football, but nobody predicted this,” Carles told Sport.

“But he has been the same for the past two years and we hope that he can continue like this and that everything goes well.

“Sergio has always been a boy that has been mature for his age. He has not changed a thing and I hope he does not.

“We are not talking about a boy that you always have to watch. He has always behaved very well. The only thing I have said to him about his game is to play like he knows how – to stay calm and be confident.”
