(GSM) – Tournament favorites Ivory Coast were held to a scoreless draw in their African Cup of Nations opener against Burkina Faso.
Bakari Kone was guilty of missing two glorious chances in a match dominated by the Elephants,
The Marseille striker’s failure to take advantage of free goals on each side of half time, meant that the Elephants dominance throughout the match in Cabinda went in vain.
Ivory Coast’s star-players all impressed with Chelsea striker Didier Drogba particularly standing out with some deft touches and Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure marshalling the game from the centre of the park.
But for all Ivory Coast’s superiority on the pitch, they couldn’t turn their possession into goals with Emmanuel Eboue, Gervinho and Souleymane Bamba also guilty of wasting chances.
