Crystal Palace suffered their fourth consecutive defeat in the Premier League at the hands of Everton on Saturday afternoon, slipping into the relegation zone for the first time since August.
The Eagles have picked up just one win since September, but with games to come against bottom-half sides they’ve picked up points to in the reverse fixtures, can Palace end their winless run soon?
Crystal Palace’s next four Premier League games
(31/1/17) AFC Bournemouth v Crystal Palace
(4/2/17) Crystal Palace v Sunderland
(11/2/17) Stoke City v Crystal Palace
(25/2/17) Crystal Palace v Middlesbrough
Crystal Palace’s results to the aforementioned quartet
(27/8/16) Crystal Palace 1-1 AFC Bournemouth
(10/9/16) Middlesbrough 1-2 Crystal Palace
(18/9/16) Crystal Palace 4-1 Stoke City
(24/9/16) Sunderland 2-3 Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace picked up 10 points to the four clubs in the reverse fixtures back in September and will be full of confidence going into the run of games as a result. Their recent form doesn’t give much hope to a turnaround, given the Eagles have lost six of their last seven and conceded 15 goals since December, but manager Sam Allardyce knows he and his side can have no excuses if they are to stave off relegation.
Palace face Bournemouth at a good time to get a result with the Cherries having won just one of their last six Premier League games, conceding 14 goals. The South Coast club have lost to the likes of Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Burnley and Hull City which shows sides in and around the relegation zone have proven to be their bogey teams.
Sunderland is a must-win encounter when Crystal Palace host the Black Cats next month. David Moyes’ side are currently rock bottom of the Premier League table, having lost four of their last five, and losing five on the bounce on the road. Anything less than a win at home to the out-of-form side would be deemed a poor result.
A trip to Stoke City could be a stumbling block, but with the Potters having won just twice at the Bet 365 Stadium since October, Palace stand a chance of a result. The Eagles’ home clash with Middlesbrough will also be deemed as a must-win given the lack of goals the visitors have managed. Aitor Karanka’s side have won just once in their last eight, enduring a five-game winless run as things stand.
Palace have a real opportunity to turn things around in the coming weeks, and are 8/15 to stay up in the Premier League this season. Their next four games could kick-start their survival quest.
