Competition: MLS

Market: FC Dallas win

Odds: 7/5 @ Bet 365

Looking to widen their advantage at the top of the Western Conference, FC Dallas travels to Avaya Stadium in the early hours of Thursday morning to face off against a rock bottom San Jose.

Starting with the hosts on Thursday, Mikael Stahre’s San Jose Earthquakes side are still struggling at the foot of the Western Conference and a spot in the playoffs has already gone missing. Coming off the back of a 3-2 loss to The Whitecaps last time out, San Jose have only managed to win one competitive match since the middle of May. While that victory may have come in a shock win against Dallas, we do not expect a similar upset on Thursday. With the third worst defensive record in the division and already seven points adrift at the foot of the table, it could be another rough night for the Earthquakes.

As for the visitors, while they may have hot a small bump at the start of the month, FC Dallas still sit atop of the Western Conference and are tipped by many to win the division outright. Renowned for the defensive record, Óscar Pareja’s side currently hold the third best defensive record in the MLS. One man to watch for the visitors will be 27-year-old Michael Barrios. After finding the net against Huston in their 1-1 draw last week, the playmaker now has two in his last two and five in his last five. Given the gulf in class between the two sides, we’re backing Pareja’s side to extend their advantage at the top of the table.
